Another good turnout, we had sixteen show up on Sunday. Seems we are getting
back into the swing of things. We even had a new participant, John Wojcik.
His son, Patrick, participated the week before. Seems the whole family wants
to get into the game. The more the merrier! It was a fun group and
between Deanna, Jessica, Ava and Libby, there is a loud and fairly obnoxious
cheering crowd forming.
Jack and Stephanie started the first round. Stephanie was able to defeat
Jack, who was more aggressive but had less point control and a way shorter
reach. Patrick and John were next and John had the same advantage as Stepanie
and won the bout. Sirley and Libby followed and Sirley made short work of
Libby. Frank did the same to Deanna, although Deanna had a huge and loud
following. Greg and newcomer John W., were next and Greg's reach and experience
toppled John. There was a lot of laughter for Andrew and Jonah. Good friends
and fellow Boy Scouts, they practice together all the time. Seems amusing they
didn't get to practice with someone else. Anyway, Andrew won this time. Ryan
and Jessica had a close bout with Ryan coming out the winner. Alan and Austin
finished the round. Today Austin's counter-time defeated Alan's fleching.
Round two started with Stephanie and John U. John was able to move up. Sirley
and Frank were next, even with Sirley starting with a point Frank was able to
take the win. Greg and Andrew followed and Greg dominated. Ryan and Austin
were the final bout and Austin again moved up. He's getting to be pretty
regular in the higher brackets.
John and Frank started round three with Frank winning although John gave it
a great effort. Greg and Austin were next and Greg's leaning reach overcame
Austin's counter-time but only by one touch. The final was Greg and Frank,
a match-up we have often seen. And as usual Greg lost by one touch and Frank
collected his second win and is now tied with Everett for two wins in a row.
Who knows, maybe this SNG series won't take as long to play out, although
five wins is really hard to get.
