Total Fencers 17
Seventeen people showed up to fence on the 6th. There were several women
present who were a little stiff and sore after the Red Rock Wild Women's Open
the day before. It was a small but successful tournament and there will be
a repeat some point in the future. Anyway, back to the Stab-N-Grab. We had
participants from around eight years old to over fifty. It's an amazing group
of fencers. Our year anniversary is fast approaching. There's a BBQ and potluck
coming to Red Rock on April 11th. Be there and be fencing!
Also a quick congratulations to Filip, Ryan, Eric and Amanda for qualifying
to go to the Nationals in July. Go Red Rock Youth!
Round one started with Michelle and Libby. Michelle was a little rusty and Libby
was able to move up. Stefany and Filip followed with Filip's cool moves giving
him the win. John and Alan were next and John was just one touch shy of knocking
out last week's winner. Jack and Patrick, the youngsters of the group, fought an
epic battle with Patrick once again the winner. Unfortunetly for Patrick this
meant that he had to fence Greg who pretty easily took him out to jeers of being
a puppy kicker. Joseph and Michele fought with Michele moving up. Ava and Tony
the pirate, were next with Tony winning. Taylor and Andrew fenced next. Taylor
gave it her best shot but Andrew's reach and magic pants gave him victory. Jim
and Frank were the last of the round and since Frank starts with three touches
against him Jim was able to knock him out.
Libby and Filip started round two. Filip moved up with a five to four victory.
Alan and Greg followed and this week it was Greg's turn to move up. Michele and
Tony fought next and Tony's pirate style took out Michele. The last bout of the
round was Andrew and Jim. Andrew's reach and magic pants gave him the win again.
Maybe it's because they are so blindingly white that is giving him the edge.
Filip and Greg started round three and Greg's reach and starting two points
ahead gave him the win. Tony and Andrew were next and Tony's pirate style
lost to Andrews reach, and maybe the whiteness of the pants, opinion is still
out on that. The final was Greg and Andrew. Both tall and have amazing reaches.
This week, though, it was Greg's experience that toppled the magic pants and
took away Andrew's reach. Greg's win gave us a new first time winner
for this week. Congrat's Greg!
