It was an intimate Stab-N-Grab with all the big guns out of town.
Frank along with Filip and Eric were in Kansas City for a National
Youth event so the field was wide open. The wind was blowing lightly
so we're guessing Greg was out on the lake, especially since his
usual motivation is to keep Frank from winning. As for the rest,
I'm guessing we're getting to the busy time of year and people have
other committments, but the eight of us were ready to do combat and
see who might sneak under the radar and get a win.


With eight people everyone had to fence in the first round. Alan and
Philip started us off. It was interesting seeing the two fence as
they seem to have similiar styles, although Alan has more experience.
And today Alan's experience paid off and Philip went down in the first
bout. Taylor and Ava were next and Taylor was able to pull out the win.
It was a close match but Taylor got her arm out one more time than Ava.
Stephanie and Ken followed with Ken gently moving past Stephanie. Libby
and Austin were the final bout of the first round and Libby managed
to get past Austin's long reach and long lunges.


Alan and Taylor started round two and Alan moved past Taylor, who is
just not experienced enough against Alan's fleches. Ken and Libby were
next and Ken, not quite so gently as with Stephanie defeated Libby and
went on to the finals.


The final then was Alan and Ken. These two have faced off often with
mixed results. Today, however, Alan was on his game. His point was in
line and his moves fast. Ken just couldn't quite get there and Alan
won the day and his second Stab-N-Grab. Hopefully next week we'll have
more Stabbers with Frank and friends being back in town. Even with our
small turnout there were plenty of fencing afterwards and a huge amount
of food showed up as well.



It just can't get any better than food and fencing!
