Total Fencers 15

We had fifteen turn out for Sunday's Stab-N-Grab. The room was filled
with stabbers warming up for the event. The remains from the previous
day's Halloween Rumble were still up and the festive mood seemed to
carry over, either that or everyone was still on a sugar high from
the candy holiday. We had another first timer, Andrew Dittrich. Our
total participants are now up to 71! Not bad for a little Sunday
practice tournament.

For the first time in recent memory Frank got an ace. In fact he
was the only ace and was more excited about the ace than seemed
justified. With fifteen people in a sixteen person tableau he got
a bye and was thrilled to make it to the second round. Deanna and
second time competitor Jonah faced off first with Jonah moving up.
First timer Andrew was bested by our Taylor, who is quickly getting
her fencing skills sharpened. The grudge match of the first round was
Greg and Libby. The grudge, of course, is on Greg's side and his
grudge is going to continue since Libby defeated him. Michele and
Eric were next with a surprise win by Michele beating him. Lisa and
Stephanie faced off with Lisa moving past her. Everett and Ken fenced
next with Ken dropping to Everett's long reach and longer lunges. Ava
and Philip finished with first round with Ava moving up.

Frank and Jonah started with second round with Frank sneaking past
the less experienced Jonah. Taylor and Libby were next with Libby
moving on. Michele and Lisa were next and the epee fencer Lisa was
was able to move past the foil fencer Michele. Lastly Everett and
Ava faced off and again, Everett's smooth moves brought him victory.

Frank and Libby started the third round. The crowd was cheering loudly
for Libby, who only needed one touch to keep Frank from the finals.
Libby, finally using one of the techniques Frank has been trying to
get her to use was able to get the double touch that knocked Frank
out of the battle for Pierre. Lisa and Everett were the other bout
and Lisa really made Everett work for his victory. The final was Libby,
her first time to make it that far and Everett. As with the rest of
his bouts Everett was about the business of winning and easily took
Libby down. Everett now has his second win and seemed happier than
usual to embrace Pierre.

Paparazzi in the background!
