We have reached 70 people having participated in the Stab-N-Grab to
date! Amazing for a little Sunday afternoon tournament. We had two new
participants yesterday, Jonah and Taylor. It was great to see the
room full of fencers. There had been a tournament the day before and
I wasn't sure we would have a decent turnout but people did show up.
What was probably even more rewarding was to see people fencing after-
wards. All four grounded strips were full of bodies and clanging blades.
Yahoo for diehard fencers.
With fourteen people Alan and Ava both got byes in round one. Austin
and first timer Taylor were the first to join the fray. Austin with
more experience was able to take the win. Greg and the other new-comer
Jonah were up next with Greg taking no prisoners. Frank and Libby were
next. The crowd was totally on Libby's side to knock out Frank since
only one touch was needed but Libby wasn't able to get it, so Frank
actually got past the first round. Jessica and Eric were next and
Jessica's longer reach brought her victory. Filip and Ken followed
and even though Filip started with three touches against him, Ken wasn't
able to knock him out. Jack and Stephanie finished out the round with
Jack's aggressiviness defeating Stephanie.
Alan and Austin started round two. Austin's quick counterattacks were
able to stop Alan's fleching. Greg and Frank were next with Greg
getting that one touch to knock Frank out. The crowd was very excited
to see Greg's victory. Jessica and Filip were next with Filip taking
the win. Jack and Ava (his Mom) were the final bout of the round and
once again Jack was able to charge his way to a win.
Round three started with Austin and Greg. Greg's reach was able to
stop Austin. Filip and Jack were next and Filip sensing Pierre Reposte's
call wasn't bothered by heckling from the crowd about defeating a child.
The final was Greg and Filip. Greg looking for win number three
and Filip looking for number four. The crowd was torn between the fencers
and shouts for both fencers were loud. In the end Filip defeated Greg
and is now tied with Frank for having four Stab-N-Grab wins. One more
and the sword is his and the game will start over with everyone equal.
It should be noted here that Filip was able to get his fourth win
without anyone getting a single touch on him. It is another
Stab-N-Grab record. Congratulations Filip!
