Total Fencers 15

On Sunday, August 30th, 15 fencers gathered for another Sunday of stabbing
and grabbing. We actually got more people than expected. With the Ironman
competition the day before we thought the turnout would be faily low.
We are also still getting new people showing up. We got a new person today.
Our total is now up to 66. We had our second third time winner today too.
Being a small group we had a lot of audience participation with lots of
laughter and cheers. It had to be one of the most fun Stab-N-Grabs to date.
A special thanks to Kimberly Corkill for directing the event.

Round one began with Ken and Deanna. Although Ken beat Deanna, Deanna was
enthusiastic about getting touches. It is so cool to see people begin to
move to the next level. Edwin and James were next. James almost got the
win today with a loss of 5 to 4. Of course Edwin started two touches down
but James did the best he had to date. Alecz and Sean were next. It was
Sean's first Stab-N-Grab and he won to move past the the first round. The
next bout was by far the most entertaining. Jack and Greg faced off. Almost
immediately, it was noticed that there was a huge difference in height between
the two. Soon thereafter, the bout was labelled "Jack and the Beanstalk".
At first Greg was totally out for the win but the heckling from the crowed
about kicking puppies was so bad, he gave Jack some chances for hits.

When he decided Jack was close enough he started to try harder, and Jack got an
unexpected hit, everyone in the room could see the whites of Greg's eyes as
he realized that maybe this was going to be harder than he thought. So Greg,
reached way down and found the will to win. Hysterical laughing was heard
for most of the bout. Next up was Frank and Eric. Once again there was reference
to a giant and a Jack. With Frank being down by three touches, Eric was able
to topple his giant and move on. We didn't track the time on this one but it
is possible that Frank was out faster than the 28 second record. Libby and
Austin were up and Austin pretty much whooped Libby's rear end. The last bout
of the first round was Ja and Alan. Ja ended up the victor but Alan gave him
a good run for his money.

Round two was was as fun and round one. Filip and Ken were up first and Filip
had to go into overtime to win. Edwin and Sean were next. Sean gave it a good
try but Edwin was able to top it. Greg and Eric faced across the blue line.
Again, Greg was taunted by the entire room for kicking puppies and beating
on children. However, this did not stop Greg from winning the bout. Austin and
Ja finished out the round with Ja taking the win from Austin, who has been
really doing well the past several weeks.

Round two started off with Edwin and Eric. Eric gave it his all, but two time
winner Edwin was able to take the win. Ja and Filip were next. It was a great
match with two two time winners fencing. Today it was Ja's turn to move up.
Jessica and Jack fenced next with Jessica's longer reach topping Jack's valiant
effort. Kris took the win over Michele. Sirley and Austin were next. Sirley's
aggressive style won over Austin's more defensive stance. Frank was a little
unhappy about having to fence Everett. Frank was hoping for less of a challenge
so he could move up but he has taught Everett well and starting three touches
down was too much to overcome. Alan and Lisa were next and Alan's reach and
fleching were too much for Lisa to overcome. The final bout was Ken and Alecz.
Alecz speed and youth did topple Ken this time.

On to round three and Filip facing Edwin. In a well fought battle, each with two
wins apiece, they took it to the limit. Today's winner, was Filip. Greg and Ja
were next and Greg gave it his all but Ja was the winner today. The final bout
ended up being Ja and Filip. We've seen this match up more than once. Again, we
had two people with two touches against them. The outcome of today's bout will
give someone three wins and joining the ranks of Frank, who has been the only
three time winner so far. Not to leave you in suspense, Filip took the day in
a fairly even match. The crowd was totally into the battle and cheers aglore
were heard.
Afterwards, "The Challenge" keep people fencing for at least another hour and
at least three strips were busy with the sights of Epee fencers clashing. Frank
pretty much had no rest for at least an hour. And a good time was had by all.
