Total Fencers 12
Stab-N-Grab was skipped last week due to the Nevada Championships.
The turn out was only 12 people this week but we had two first timers show up so
our total of participants keeps growing. The opinion for the low turnout
was that it was another holiday weekend, the last one was Father's Day
also we had several younger members missing due to being at the Nationals.
Mark your calendars now, August 23rd, we are asking all participants who
can possibly make to show up and we want to go for a Red Rock Stab-N-Grab
record. If everyone showed up we'd have over fifty fencers.

With the smaller group we were able to hold the event on one strip.
Although the turnout was small it was amazing the good spirits present.
Everyone seemed to be in a great mood and the crowd was totally into
the event. Ken and Everett were the first bout with Everett moving up.
Everett was on a mission to take his place on the Stab-N-Grab wall.
Sirley was next fencing Dominic. Dominic a newcomer to the fencing
gave it his all and is showing improvement but the more experienced
Sirley moved up. Jeff and Alecz were next and Alecz took Jeff down.
Scott and Libby were next with Scott easily moving past her.

Deanna and Everett started the second round. Deanna also just learning
dropped to Everett. Frank and Greg were next and the smack talk before
the bout was almost frightening. In a surprise upset, at least to Frank,
Greg triumphed and I expect we'll hear about this for awhile. Jessica and
Sirley were next with Sirley beating left-handed Jessica. Alecz and and
Scott were next and in another upset Alecz left Scott in the dust.
Everett and Greg faced off. Greg greedy for a second win and Everett on
a mission for his first one. In this case Everett stayed on course for
his mission and Greg got to head off for a beer. Sirley and Alecz were
up next and again Alecz won the upset and sent Sirley off to start cooking.
The final was Everett and Alecz. The room was very excited with the prospect
of another first time winner. The Red Rock Wild Women were especially
excited that Alecz was in the finals. It was the first time a woman had
made it so far. The crowd was totally into the bout and cheering was done
for both sides, although it seemed the women were louder. Alas, Everett
stayed true to his mission and Pierre Reposte found a new owner this week
with Everett winning his first Stab-N-Grab.
After the excitement of a new winner, everyone's attention turned to food.
as usual there was more food than people and everyone had more than enough
to eat. In an unofficial baking contest, Libby's Key Lime Pie won compliments
even from Frank. Burgers, dogs, chicken and brats were the main dishes with
lots of sides and even more desserts. Tony brought his grill and managed to
survive the heat to cook the food. Thanks Tony! The event was a great success.
There will be a Stab-N-Grab next week July 12th. It's important that everyone
who can show up because Frank is planning on going for his fourth win in
anticipation that his competition will be away at the Nationals, returning
from the Nationals or on vacation. So if you are in town show up and keep
the fourth win out of his grasp.
