Total Fencers 13
Thirteen people showed up for the Father's Day Stab-N-Grab. I'm thinking
a lower attendence was probably due to the holiday. Also the day before was an
open tournament and people may not have been able to do both events on
the same weekend. Even so, we still had a first timer show up. Our total
number of participants keeps growing.
And so, on to the competition. Tank, Evan and Eric all had a bye in the
first round. Greg and Frank fought the first bout. Greg is feeling pretty
confident with his win from a couple of weeks ago and well, Frank is always
confident. It seemed to be a battle of epee giants, or at two really tall
people. With three touches against him Frank lost to Greg. Scott and newcomer
Stephanie faced off with Scott going up. Lisa and Libby were next and Lisa
won the day. Another tough bout out the gate was Everett against Ja. Everett
just won the Epee open the day before and came out the gate strong dropping
Ja. Jessica and first timer Jim were next. The more experience Jessica moved
up a round.
Round two began with Tank and Greg with Greg moving up. Scott and Lisa were
were next. Lisa gave it a valiant try but Scott's long reach topped her. Evan
and Everett were next. Evan had the crowd on his side but alas, he did not win.
Jessica and Eric were next with Jessica dropping to Eric's fleching.
The third round started with Greg and Scott. Scott with two touches down lost
to Greg who had visions of a second visit with Pierre Repost (the trophy). To
Scott's surprise Greg defeated him. Next, in a shocking upset, Eric beat
Everett, the favored to win the day. So that left the final bout, Greg with
Pierre Reposte seemingly in his grasp, and little Eric. To the delight of the
crowd, Eric took command of the bout and dominated. Greg walked away without
his desire and Eric got to embrace the prize.
There will be NO Stab-N-Grab next Sunday June 28th due to the Nevada Championships.
The following weekend, July 5th, there will be a Stab-N-Grab and a BBQ. The memorial
day event was great fun so we're going for it again over the weekend of the 4th.
